John Balsley

In all honesty, I work fundamentally to please myself in solving the art making problems and ideas that I am constantly satiating my mind with.

This is usually, but not always, a joyous involvement.  I do believe also that this activity is not entirely self imposed and at times ineffable.

I have been involved in this process most of my life and it is an absolute force.

This recent body of work from 2010-2013 is at the most frightening as well as somewhat humorous and even sometimes absurd (to me).  Nevertheless my own history and memory:  a plethora of influences and inspirations contribute to the realization of this recent body of work.
